The current International Decade for People of African Descent ends in 2024, and so, to make today’s International Day, UN experts urge the UN General Assembly to proclaim a second International Decade for People of African Descent.

In their statement they say “The International Day for People of African Descent is a day to acknowledge and remember the historic and ongoing triumphs as well as struggles of people of African descent to realise their human rights. . . .

In the August 30/31 Full Moon Feature, my podcast guest, humanitarian worker Glenn Goss, speaks of the transition he and humanitarian organisations continue to make in their journey from unconscious collusion with discrimination, through neutrality to actively promoting the rights of the oppressed.  This is a journey for us all, as we seek a more just, equitable, loving world.

As the UN experts say “Today, more than ever, the world urgently needs humanity to unite and collaborate with unwavering commitment, in a spirit of equality and non-discrimination. . . . The cause of people of African descent for recognition, justice and development is a cause for humanity. . .”
